You can choose to display or not to display the word index. If you choose to display it, you can:
Exclude words appearing more than a specific number of times.
Exclude or not exclude common words from the word index, such as prepositions and articles (common words are excluded by default).
Create a text file that lists common words you want excluded from the word index.
Display the word index on the left or right.
To hide the word index, click View
Word Index button (
) on the toolbar. To view the
word index, click the button again.
You can set the threshold to exclude words that appear more than a specific number of times. For example, a transcript may have the word court in it hundreds of times, but the occurrences may have little or no meaning to any of the parties reviewing your transcripts. You can exclude words that appear more than 200 times to eliminate the word court from the word index.
Note: Exercise caution when using this option for long transcripts. Setting it too low can eliminate important words from the word index.
The Words in this File option enables you to select a text file that you may have created previously. For example, if you are reporting for a case involving water quality, you may create a special text file called WaterCase.txt that lists common words specific to the case, such as water. You can then save the text file to a directory on your hard drive and select it from the Word Index Exclusions dialog box.
