Previewing, Setting up, Printing

Always preview a transcript before printing. Previewing saves paper and helps prevent frustration. You can access the Page Setup option from Print Preview, and, after everything is correct, you can access the Print option from Print Preview.

Use the following procedure:

  1. Determine what type of transcript you want to print: full-sized, condensed, or the word index. If you are working with an errata sheet, you can preview, set up, and print that as well.

  2. Preview what you have decided to print. From the E-Transcript Viewer menu bar, select File à Print Preview, and then select one of the following options: Full-sized, Condensed, Word Index, or Errata Sheet.

  3. Navigate through the pages of the transcript using the navigation buttons () near the top of the window. Hover your cursor over each of the buttons and read the tooltips that appear. The navigation buttons work similarly to the buttons on a VCR. The first button on the left takes you to the first page of the transcript. The second button takes you to the previous page of the transcript. The third button takes you to the next page, and the last button takes you to the last page of the transcript.

  4. Notice that to the left of the navigation buttons is a number. The number indicates the zoom level of the preview. Click the drop-down list to the right of the zoom level to increase or decrease magnification of the text.

  1. On the far right is a standard Windows scroll bar. Use it to move up and down each page.

Here are some of the things you may be looking for: Are your first and last pages full-sized? Do you need to increase or decrease the number of pages that are full-sized? Are your fonts correct?

  1. Based on your evaluation, click the Page Setup button (), click the appropriate tab, and make the appropriate changes. The page setup help topics (Page Setup for Full-sized, Page Setup for Condensed, Page Setup for the Errata Sheet, and Page Setup for the Word Index) describe how to set up pages. After you have made the changes, close the Page Setup dialog box.

  2. Click the Print button () on the toolbar to print the transcript.
