E-Transcript Signatures: Frequently Asked Questions
- Set-up an E-Transcript Signature Account and Install Reporter Edition
Some important points to keep in mind when setting up your E-Transcript Signature account:
- We recommend that you use Windows® XP. Reporter Edition can function in Windows® 2000, but the performance is not optimized.
- Internet Explorer 5.5 (or higher) is required for most of the RealLegal websites related to E-Transcript Signature accounts.
- If you are having trouble getting to the RealLegal E-Transcript Signature website (https://sign.reallegal.com) or installing Reporter Edition, here are a couple of tips: download the RealLegal Active X controls when prompted, and lower your security settings in Internet Explorer. Products like McAfee, Norton/Symantec, AVG, etc. may be blocking access to secure websites.
- When signing the enrollment form, be sure to use dark ink or press hard so that a very clear signature image can be created.

- Common Occurrences with E-Transcript Signatures
- The wrong signature image is appearing on a transcript.
Cause: The signature image is downloaded to a temporary location on your computer. When you try to sign as a second reporter on the same computer, the program can confuse the signature images and apply the wrong image to the transcript.
Fix: Download this Temp Folder Cleaner that will clear the temp files on your computer. You will need to run this every time you need to sign with a different signature.
- The signature is in the wrong location on the transcript.
Cause: The most common cause of this issue is that the signer has not previewed the transcript and selected the correct signature location in the Sign dialog box.
Fix: View the transcript in the E-Transcript Viewer and note the correct page, line, and column number and apply the settings in the Sign dialog box.
- The signatures don’t print out.
Cause: By default, E-Transcript Manager does not print the digital signature code or signature image on transcripts.
Fix: Verify the option to print signatures is checked under the Advanced tab in Page Setup (On the menu bar click File, click Page Setup, click the appropriate type, for example, Condensed Transcript, and then click the Advanced tab). If this option is grayed out (making it unavailable for selection), you will need to download both of the following registry files:
