E-Transcript Manager 8.0: How to Install the Upgrade
Please review the following instructions before you download the new version:
- Back up your existing E-Transcript Manager data (C:\E-Transcript Files) before upgrading. For example, write the files to a CD and store the CD in a secure place.
- Important: If you are downloading E-Transcript Manager from the RealLegal Web site, save the installation program to your hard drive and then open it. Detailed instructions are below.
- Remember: If you are upgrading, run the installation twice. The first time the installation runs, it uninstalls the existing version of E-Transcript Manager. The second time the installation runs, it installs E-Transcript Manager Version 8. Detailed instructions are below.
- Note: E-Transcript Manager Version 8 requires Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
To download the installation program and uninstall E-Transcript Manager:
- Visit http://www.reallegal.com/TSsoftwareDownloadETXManager.asp, complete the form, click the drop-down list below the form, and then click E-Transcript Manager 8.0 (latest).
- Click Submit. The Download E-Transcript Manager page opens.
- Read the instructions on the screen and then click Version 8.0 (latest; recommended). The File Download box opens.
- Click Save.
Important: Click Save. You need to run the installation program twice. You cannot run the installation program twice if you do not click Save.
The Save As dialog box opens.
- With a pencil and paper, write down the location where you save the file (this task is important; you will need to know the location in a few minutes).
- Click Save. The file is downloaded and saved to your hard drive. The download may take several minutes.
- After the download is complete, click Run. A security warning dialog box opens.
- Click Run. You are prompted to remove (uninstall) the existing version of E-Transcript Manager.
- Click Next. You are again prompted to uninstall the application and all its features.
- Click OK. E-Transcript Manager is uninstalled.
- Click Finish.
To install E-Transcript Manager Version 8:
- Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the location where you saved the ETX80.exe file in Step 5 above.
- Double-click the file named etx80.exe. A security warning dialog box opens.
- Click Run. After a few moments, the InstallShield Wizard opens.
- Click Next. The License Agreement dialog box opens.
- Read the License Agreement and then click Yes. The Information dialog box opens.
- Read the Release Notes and then click Next. The Choose Destination Location dialog box opens.
- Click Next. The Select Program Folder dialog box opens.
- Click Next. The application installs.
- Click Finish. The E-Transcript Manager installation is complete.
