DENVER (July 12, 2004) - RealLegal, LLC, which develops court reporting, litigation and practice management software, and Stenograph, LLC, which supplies shorthand writing equipment and computer aided transcription software, have announced the release of the StenoBankä subscription-based Web storage application. Developed jointly by RealLegal and Stenograph, StenoBank allows court reporters, scopists, captioners and communication access realtime translation (CART) professionals to safely store stenographic notes, dictionaries, final transcripts or any other important files to a private area on a password-protected server.
StenoBank fulfills three primary needs: statutory compliance, disaster recovery planning and the eradication of obsolete media. Due to the retention and accessibility policies for original notes, as mandated by the courts, official court reporters require a reliable storage alternative. Some court districts have also outlined auditing processes to verify the longevity and durability of chosen storage media. Stenograph and RealLegal joined forces for this project to resolve the limitations of existing archival methodologies.
Aside from being a critical archival system, StenoBank fulfills court requirements for reasonable accessibility and timely retrieval of notes and dictionaries, and it enables captioners and CART professionals to retrieve their dictionaries from any job site at any time. StenoBank also performs as a contingency storage facility in the event of a disaster (e.g., fire, computer crash) by providing an off-site location for back-up files.
“We are very pleased to be partnered with Stenograph in such an important endeavor,” said Bill Feid, president and chief executive officer for RealLegal. “Our respective teams thoroughly analyzed the Internet storage market and discovered that no outlet fit the needs of the reporting industry and the courts, nor did any existing vendors provide the same integrity and reliability that two industry leaders like RealLegal and Stenograph do.”
“The partnership between our two companies brings decades of industry experience to a cutting-edge Web solution,” commented John Wenclawski, president of Stenograph. “It was imperative that we release StenoBank as an alternative to the unstable Web storage vendors emerging every day. With StenoBank, the professionals that we already serve can confidently upload their important files to a secure location and know that they will be there when they need them.”
To use the StenoBank service, subscribers upload nearly unlimited electronic files to their private StenoBank account. StenoBank accounts are secure and accessible only by the authorized user. Much like a bank account, each StenoBank permits deposits and withdrawals from the authorized user. Files can be retrieved at any time from anywhere by logging in to the free and private "My RealLegal" account which governs several other secure Web applications built exclusively for reporting professionals.
Information about subscription rates is available from both companies. Contact RealLegal at www.reallegal.com or 888.584.9988. Contact Stenograph at www.stenograph.com or call 800.228.2339.
