West Publisher 5.0 is now available! New features include:
- Entering Bundle Properties, metadata, and cover-page specifications are now optional.
- The transcripts, exhibits and video files are now displayed in a single viewing window for ease of use.
- Automatic hyperlinks to exhibit names and references, including manual link and unlink functionality.
- Wildcard search technology makes it easier to create hyperlinks from additional terms in the transcript.
- The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Engine is included with every licensed installation, making it more convenient to convert imaged exhibit documents into fully searchable content while also having the flexibility to select which exhibits to OCR.

- Publisher software comes with a bundle free viewer option, so any recipient can use the Bundle and save the files out to other convenient formats as needed. No software is required to open and utilize a Bundle. Imitation technologies require the recipient to have purchased a specific software product.
- Attorneys can instantly import a Bundle into West LiveNote, the #1 most widely used litigation support software of any kind* or West Case Notebook. Double-click a PTZ file and West LiveNote or West Case Notebook opens automatically and prompts the user to import the PTZ into a specific case. Once imported, all the files in the PTZ (transcripts, documents, links, and video synchronization data) are available in the software.
- Publisher includes MediaSync, an application for court reporting agencies to automatically or manually synchronize testimony from the transcript with the corresponding audio from video files.
- Publisher includes an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Engine with every licensed installation. OCR converts scanned exhibit documents into searchable content, just like the search capabilities within the transcript. The OCR’d exhibits you include in the Publisher Bundle will even have their own hyperlinked word index.
- Whether an exhibit is formally introduced into the record, or simply referenced during the deposition, Publisher can create a link from that point in the transcript to a scanned version of the document. Attorneys no longer have to search through stacks of documents to locate the exhibit that was referenced during important testimony. It’s right there with a click of the mouse.
- Users have the option to define the Bundle Properties and designate a custom cover page for it.
- Bundles can be delivered via CD, DVD, email, or a secure RealLegal iBinder Web repository. Secure logins create an extra security buffer to ensure access only by authorized recipients.
